Different images require a different amount of work to get it right. Some are just point and shoot, some work well with a stack of filters in front of the camera, others require some creative post processing, but some special cases will squeeze an extra mile from you. The moment I came to this location I knew that I wanted to shoot this mountain with reflection, the problem was that I couldn’t get a nice one without going into the water … freezing cold water. Believe me, those “icebergs” are floating there for a reason. I tried couple times, but couldn’t stand it for more than 20 seconds – it was burning cold. Fortunately I had some time before the sunset to come up with The Solution.

For the next hour people were pointing at me fingers and joking, but I kept collecting reasonably sized rocks and stayed focused on the construction. At the end, I was standing with my tripod on the tip of the narrow 2.5m long rock “bridge”. Needless to say that moments after I finished my work I was approached by some people asking to take a shot from there.

I’ve been shooting a lot of seascapes lately and feel that I need to interrupt this constant flow of “rocks in the water” images with something dry. The image I chose for the new calendar wallpaper presents an iconic view of the Flinders Ranges (South Australia) – Bunyeroo Valley from Razorback Lookout.

If you are interested to learn more about Flinders Ranges, a good way to start is to read my “Flinders Ranges: Highlights” article in the travel section of my website.

No matter what – weather conditions, light, tide or swell, one of the prime locations for Sydney photographers, Turimetta Beach always provides an opportunity to make a great seascape photograph. I’ve been shooting there several times already and no doubt will come again. I hope you’ll enjoy this latest addition to my wallpaper collection!

The latest addition to my wallpaper collection features Lake Albina – one of the six glacial lakes in Australia. As its’ neighbour Lake Cootapatamba, it is located in Australian Alps, near the highest Australian peak – Mt. Kosciuszko (2228 metres). I suspect that it is completely covered by snow now, a sight I’d really like to see …

I can say that this is the moment I’ve been waiting for 7 years! Ever since I moved to Sydney, I kept hearing rumours that from time to time Sydney Opera House sails are lit in a very colourful way, but I have never seen it myself. The only colours I saw were traditional streetlight yellowish white or pink. There was a light show last year, but somehow I missed it completely.
