{"id":663,"date":"2009-03-03T21:06:52","date_gmt":"2009-03-03T11:06:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/yk.mynetscene.com\/places\/?p=663"},"modified":"2009-03-03T21:23:08","modified_gmt":"2009-03-03T11:23:08","slug":"kolay-mirica-falls-gawler-ranges-national-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yktravelphoto.com\/places\/kolay-mirica-falls-gawler-ranges-national-park\/663","title":{"rendered":"Kolay Mirica Falls, Gawler Ranges National Park"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\"  itemprop=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.yktravelphoto.com\/places\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/_mg_1927.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Kolay Mirica Falls is one of the best places in the Gawler Ranges National Park where you can explore the organ pipes &#8211; unique volcanic rock formations.<\/p>\n<p>Park is located in 40 kilometers north off Eyre Highway in South Australia,\u00c2\u00a0the road from\u00c2\u00a0Wudinna is the most convenient way to get there.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\"  itemprop=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.yktravelphoto.com\/places\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/_mg_1993.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>These octagonal columns are made from the volcanic rhyolite, formed after volcano erruption some 1500 million years ago. Ash and lava created a solid rock up to 1500 meters thick, which after the cooling formed what we call now as organ pipes.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\"  itemprop=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.yktravelphoto.com\/places\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/_mg_1926.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This waterfall is located in the north-east part of the park and accessible via a 4WD-ONLY road. Track starts not far from the &#8220;Paney Homestead&#8221; and intersection with turn onto the Barn Road to Wudinna. From there to waterfalls is about 17 kilometres, see park brochure for details.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\"  itemprop=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.yktravelphoto.com\/places\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/_mg_2000.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>At\u00c2\u00a0the end of the road there will be a small parking area and a 200 meter walking trail to waterfalls.
