It was established in 1830 when the first white settlers arrived to this area.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"550\" height=\"367\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-174\" title=\"_mg_0517\"  itemprop=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.yktravelphoto.com\/places\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/_mg_0517.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In 1858 gold has been discovered in\u00c2\u00a0the district pushing further development of the town, and\u00c2\u00a0by 1860&#8217;s, Tenterfield with population of 133 had a police station, post office, Anglican Church and bank.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"550\" height=\"367\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-179\" title=\"_mg_0538\"  itemprop=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.yktravelphoto.com\/places\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/_mg_0538.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8211; 1870&#8217;s: population almost doubled<br \/>\n&#8211; 1871: Tenterfield was declared a municipality<br \/>\n&#8211; 1886: railway has reached this area<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"550\" height=\"367\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-175\" title=\"_mg_0524\"  itemprop=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.yktravelphoto.com\/places\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/_mg_0524.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Tenterfield is considered as a &#8220;The Birthplace of the Nation&#8221; &#8211; in 1889, Sir Henry Parkes, premier of NSW, delivered his speach for federation of all Australian colonies.
