{"id":1623,"date":"2009-12-29T09:00:28","date_gmt":"2009-12-28T22:00:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.yktravelphoto.com\/places\/?p=1623"},"modified":"2009-12-17T14:22:00","modified_gmt":"2009-12-17T03:22:00","slug":"cameron-corner-qld-nsw-sa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yktravelphoto.com\/places\/cameron-corner-qld-nsw-sa\/1623","title":{"rendered":"Cameron Corner, QLD, NSW, SA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yktravelphoto.com\/pi\/729\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1627\" title=\"Cameron Corner, QLD, NSW, SA, Australia\"  itemprop=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.yktravelphoto.com\/places\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/IMG_9100.jpg\" alt=\"Cameron Corner, QLD, NSW, SA, Australia\" width=\"300\" height=\"450\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There are four points in the Australian mainland where the border lines of various states intersect and form corners: Survey\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s General Corner (WA, NT, SA border), Poeppel\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Corner (NT, SA, QLD border), Haddon Corner (SA and QLD border) and Cameron Corner \u00e2\u20ac\u201c NSW, QLD and SA border.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yktravelphoto.com\/pi\/724\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1626\" title=\"Cameron Corner, QLD, NSW, SA, Australia\"  itemprop=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.yktravelphoto.com\/places\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/IMG_9061.jpg\" alt=\"Cameron Corner, QLD, NSW, SA, Australia\" width=\"550\" height=\"367\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Cameron Corner is located at the intersection of 26<sup>th<\/sup> parallel (South) and 141<sup>th<\/sup> meridian (East), about 140 kilometres from a nearest small country town Tibooburra in New South Wales.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yktravelphoto.com\/pi\/732\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Cameron Corner, QLD, NSW, SA, Australia\"  itemprop=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.yktravelphoto.com\/places\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/IMG_9113.jpg\" alt=\"Cameron Corner, QLD, NSW, SA, Australia\" width=\"300\" height=\"450\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This remote region was first explored by Charles Sturt in 1844 and surveyed by John Cameron later in 1882. These days\u00c2\u00a0this almost deserted place hosts the Corner Store, providing fuel, repairs, meals and accommodation. A large flat area next to the store is used for camping. They say that it is \u00e2\u20ac\u0153a Queensland business with a NSW postcode and a SA telephone number\u00e2\u20ac\u009d.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yktravelphoto.com\/pi\/722\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1624\" title=\"Cameron Corner, QLD, NSW, SA, Australia\"  itemprop=\"image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.yktravelphoto.com\/places\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/IMG_9033.jpg\" alt=\"Cameron Corner, QLD, NSW, SA, Australia\" width=\"550\" height=\"367\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Cameron Corner is also a place where the famous Dingo Fence makes a 90 degree turn following a NSW border. Parts of the world\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s longest fence were initially built in a failed attempt to stop rabbits. These parts were joined together and converted to a dog proof fence by 1914.
